In memory of Faith Findlay

21 May 2020

Some of you may be aware by now of the sad passing away of Faith last week.

Faith had a rare form of dwarfism which was life limiting. She underwent numerous surgeries, some of those which she fought against the odds, which is testament to the determination, bravery and courage she showed throughout her life.

Faith was a lovely girl, hugely polite with a gorgeous smile! She attended both Gosforth Junior High Academy and then Gosforth Academy and her family said school was a place where she was at her happiest. Without doubt Faith made GA a better place-she was an inspiration to us all.

Staff fondly remember her for her love of cooking and Art but also for spending hours at home decorating flower pots-this was her trademark skill to all who knew her! Faith was due to be awarded with the Newcastle Schools Achievement Award from Newcastle City Council in recognition of her amazing persistence and hard work despite her declining health-indeed, she defined the word ‘resilience’ in our eyes.

Our thoughts go out to all of her family, including Grace who came through the school and Hope who is currently in Year 10.

The SENDCO team along with the school counsellor are offering support for students who were close to Faith and will be working with students to further celebrate and remember how lucky we were to have Faith in our school.
