A message for our incoming students, currently in Year 8 from Gosforth Academy

WE LOOK FORWARD TO WELCOMING YOUR SON/DAUGHTER TO GOSFORTH ACADEMY IN SEPTEMBER 2020 AND WANT TO REASSURE YOU THAT WE WILL DO ALL WE CAN TO MAKE THIS TRANSITION AS SMOOTH AS POSSIBLE FOR YOUR CHILD BUT WE ALSO NEED TO BE MINDFUL OF GOVERNMENT GUIDANCE ON THE CORONAVIRUS.

We are aware that this transition is a big step for many of the students and some of you may have concerns regarding the transfer to the High School but want to reassure you that we will do everything we can to get them settled in as quickly as possible, while ensuring their safety and well-being.

We have dates allocated for transition events on the calendar for Year 8 and their parents in July and we will do all we can to ensure these take place as planned. However, for the health and well-being of us all, you need to be aware that these arrangements under current restrictions would not be allowed to take place and may have to change at short notice.

If we are unable to hold these events on the dates shown then we will put in place alternative arrangements as soon as government guidance permits. Please check the school website for the latest information on transition arrangements.

In addition, we ask that all parents of students, who intend to take up a place at Gosforth Academy in September 2020, fill in a yellow admission form, a blue photographic consent form and a data protection sheet. The middle schools distributed these forms just prior to lockdown.  If for any reason, you did not receive these forms, please contact your middle school directly. Once completed, the forms should be returned directly to Gosforth Academy. We thank those of you who have already submitted their form as this information is extremely helpful to us.

I would also like to reassure you that although we are on lockdown, work is continuing behind the scenes regarding the transfer of information from the middle schools to our pastoral and SEND teams. This will enable us to ensure the correct support is in place for the students who require it when they do begin to attend the Academy.

Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to welcoming your children to Gosforth Academy.
