Enrolment Procedure

September – January of Year 11: 
Connexions interviews for all Gosforth Academy Year 11. 
External applicants should contact the Sixth Form admissions secretary to register their interest.

January of Year 11: 
Progression Talks in Year 11 English lessons by Sixth Form team.

Sixth Form Open Evening takes place.

From this point on External Applicants may start to contact the Sixth Form admissions secretary in order to apply for a place at Gosforth Academy.  Once External Applications are received, applicants are sent a letter offering them an appointment with Director of Post 16 or the G&T Learning Manager.

Progression appointments take place for all Year 11 students with members of the Post 16 team to discuss appropriate institution and course choices.

External applicants will have the same appointment, but with the Director of Post 16 and G&T Learning Manager.

Letter sent to external applicants informing them about whether or not they have been successful in gaining a place.

Progression Appointments for all Gosforth Academy Year 11 with a member of the Post 16 team, to advise students and finalise subject choices for the Bridging Course.

Late external applicants may also be offered an appointment throughout the course of April, May and June, depending on the number of applications.  Closing date for applicants attending the Bridging Course is the end of June.

Students attend the Bridging Course, at which they follow a timetable like the one they will follow in September in order to develop study skills and have a realistic taste of the subjects they have chosen.

August (day after GCSE results):
Main enrolment for new Year 12 in light of Bridging Course and GCSE results.
