Year 10 Football Champions

Gosforth Academy Year 10 football team success...

The Sign of True Champions.

A true champion isn’t defined by never falling down, but by how they rise after a setback. Our Year 10 football team showed exactly that in the City Cup Final.

To set the scene, we rewind slightly. The team had already been crowned regional champions and were chasing a historic treble. However, a tough quarter-final in the county cup saw them narrowly lose 4–3 to a strong Wallbottle side (our first defeat of the season).

But fate had other plans…

The City Cup Final brought a rematch against Wallbottle.

After an unexpected detour on the way to the stadium, the team faced early pressure and had to dig deep, showing resilience and unity. Despite creating plenty of chances, the breakthrough finally came as we took a 1–0 lead. A brief lapse in concentration allowed Wallbottle to equalise, but that moment sparked a response.

From then on, the team found their rhythm, rediscovering the form that has seen them score an incredible 67 goals in just 12 games this season. When the final whistle blew, our boys had secured an emphatic 7–3 victory!

As a coach, I couldn’t be prouder of their attitude, resilience, and teamwork throughout the entire season.

Well done team.
