  • Academy Musicians Bring Festive Cheer to Local Community

Our students delighted the local community on Friday with festive performances at Marks & Spencer in Gosforth and the historic Grainger Market in Newcastle. The performances featured over 20 academy musicians from our choir, brass ensemble and Chamber Orchestra.

Staff at M&S were extremely supportive in making arrangements to accommodate the large group of performers within the store. Shoppers commented on how uplifting it was to hear live Christmas music while shopping, with many praising the warm, joyful atmosphere created by the students.

The celebrations continued at the Grainger Market, where students performed a selection of Christmas carols that were warmly received by traders and visitors, adding to the seasonal spirit across the city.

Mrs Elliott, Head of Music at Gosforth Academy, said:

“We are very grateful to M&S Gosforth and the Grainger Market for welcoming our students and supporting live music in the community. Our enrichment programme celebrates heritage, culture and music, and these performances gave students a wonderful opportunity to share their talents while spreading Christmas cheer. The response from the public was incredibly positive.”

Gosforth Academy is proud of its students for representing the school and contributing to the festive celebrations in our community.
