The Student Support Base is available for any students who require additional support. Within the SSB, you will be able to speak to the SENCO, Deputy Principal for Inclusion, Associate in SEND, Assistant SENCO’s, or our HLTA’s and LSAs.
Within the SSB, students are also able to access our ACR, and work with our NUFC Mentor.

We also provide a Key Worker for any child in care and for your carers.

NUFC programme-delivered on a 1-1 or small group basis, this programme provides an alternative curriculum to students who need extra guidance, support and help, with many students working towards the Princes Trust Award
Homework club-led by our support staff, this group runs after school and is available to anyone who needs additional support with homework.
Literacy support-an intervention programme that develops students’ word and language comprehension skills. This programme is delivered by SSB staff, as well as within a paired reading programme with our sixth form students.
Think Good, Feel Good-a CBT based programme, focusing in promoting positive habits and supporting mental health. This programme is led by our LSAs and HLTA’s.
Lego Therapy- a social development program that uses LEGO activities to support the development of social skills.
Nurture group-provided for our Year 9 pupils, this group provides an opportunity to socialise and mix with other students.
Lunch time support club-for those students who find it difficult to access lunchtime in the dining hall, we provide a safe space in the Student Support Base.

*The Support Base also holds the Alternative Curriculum Room (ACR), where pupils who are unable to attend certain lessons for varied reasons, i.e. Unable to partake in PE due to injury, can be referred by a Head of Year to complete or catch up on work.
The Student Support Base is located on the ground floor at the end of the English corridor. Room numbers 032 – 042.
Support to help complete homework is provided by Learning Support Assistants both before and after school. The SSB has computers, a printer, revision guides and a variety of other helpful resources available to any students who wish to use them.

During exams, the Student Support Base is used for students with additional needs to sit their exams and have additional arrangements such as a Smaller venue, Prompt, Reader, Scribe, rest breaks, or extra time. The EAA will be formally assessed through Year 10; however, temporary arrangements can be given before then to allow for students to practice their arrangements.
