  • Post-18 Progression Evening Inspires Futures

Gosforth Academy welcomed students and their parents/families to a successful Post-18 Progression Evening on Wednesday, 3 June, offering valuable guidance and insight into life beyond Sixth Form.

The event brought together 15 providers, showcasing a diverse range of opportunities including university courses and apprenticeship pathways. Representatives from all local universities were in attendance, giving students the chance to ask questions, explore subject options, and gain a clearer understanding of their next steps.

Parents and carers were also encouraged to actively participate, with a series of informative talks delivered throughout the evening. These sessions focused on the progression process, outlining application routes, key timelines, and the range of opportunities available to students after leaving Sixth Form. The evening created an engaging atmosphere, with students able to move between providers, gather information, and reflect on their ambitions in a supportive environment.

A special thank you goes to the student volunteers who helped with a range of tasks including welcoming visitors, assisting providers and directing attendees. Their enthusiasm was much appreciated. Overall, the Post-18 Progression Evening was a valuable and hopefully inspiring event, helping to equip students and their parents with the knowledge and confidence to take the next steps beyond Gosforth Academy.
