We work closely with universities, colleges, training providers, employers and apprenticeship organisations to ensure students have access to high-quality information, guidance and opportunities. What does CEIAG stand for?
CEIAG means Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance.

Meet the Progression Hub Team

Our CEIAG & Progression Manager, Li-Am Carter (li-am.carter@ga.newcastle.sch.uk), leads our programme of careers education and progression support.

Within the Progression Hub, Li-Am works closely with our Competitive Applications & EPQ Co-ordinator, Anne Walton (anne.walton@ga.newcastle.sch.uk), who supports students applying for highly competitive university courses, including Oxbridge, Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary Science and other early-entry programmes.

Our Support

The Progression Hub provides impartial information, advice and guidance to support students in planning their future. This includes support with:

• University and higher education applications
• College and sixth form applications
• T Level pathways
• Apprenticeships, including Higher and Degree Apprenticeships
• Employment opportunities and recruitment processes
• Training programmes and alternative progression routes
• Personal statements, CVs and application forms
• Interview preparation and assessment centres
• Labour market information and career planning

Students can access support throughout their time in Sixth Form, and appointments are also available for parents and carers during consultation events.

Our extensive careers and progression programme includes:

• Individual careers guidance appointments
• Group careers and progression workshops
• Visits to universities, colleges and further education providers
• Employer encounters and workplace experiences
• Links with apprenticeship and training providers
• Targeted assemblies and progression events
• Careers education through registration and tutorial programmes
• Up-to-date labour market information
• Alumni networking and mentoring opportunities
• Delivery of the Competitive Applications Programme
• Tracking of student destinations and progression trends
• A fortnightly Progression Bulletin for students and parents, showcasing progression opportunities, careers events, super-curricular activities and enrichment opportunities

Booking an Appointment

Students can book a one-to-one appointment through their tutor, Learning Manager, or by visiting the Progression Office directly. Alternatively, appointments can be arranged by emailing Li-Am Carter at li-am.carter@ga.newcastle.sch.uk.

Creating Futures means ensuring every student leaves Gosforth Academy with the knowledge, confidence and support to take their next step successfully – wherever their ambitions lead them.

This revision aligns with the Trust's "Creating Futures" message of raising aspirations, broadening horizons, and preparing young people for future education and employment, while giving equal prominence to university, college, T Levels, apprenticeships and employment routes.
