15 June 2026 Inspiring Historical Exploration for Year 13
On Friday, our Year 13 students took part in an engaging and insightful workshop delivered by the National Archives, designed to strengthen their source analysis skills.
During the session, students explored either the Suffragette movement or the Industrial Revolution, with a particular focus on local history. They uncovered fascinating and lesser-known events, including the Suffragette "Battle of Newcastle" and gained a deeper understanding of life at Newcastle Gaol.
A real highlight of the day was the exciting opportunity to examine authentic historical documents from the Discovery Museum's archive, bringing history to life in a truly memorable way! A fantastic experience that combined learning, curiosity, and hands-on discovery.

View PostA group of Year 10 students at Gosforth Academy took part in the 'Be Internet Citizens' towards the end of term, delivered by Marcus and Jen from Parentzone. Students explored the difference between misinformation (false info shared by mistake) and disinformation (false info spread deliberately to deceive), and were challenged to think critically about what they see online. They got creative too, producing posters, raps and poems exploring how to spot and challenge unreliable content. A fantastic, engaging session.
