You will be aware that Ofsted inspected our school in June.
We are delighted to announce the result of this inspection sees our school rated as Good across all categories. It has been well publicised that this current Ofsted framework is far more demanding than any previous ones, and therefore, this coupled with post pandemic challenges makes this result even more pleasing.
Our students did a superb job of being our school ambassadors. Below are some of the highlights from the report:
- Gosforth Academy is a calm, orderly and purposeful environment where pupils feel safe
- Pupils treat one another with respect
- Staff build positive relations with pupils
- Leaders have developed a culture of high expectation
- Pupils work hard and achieve well
- Pupils talk positively about the opportunities open to them
- Routes into university are well-established
- Pupils benefit from high-quality careers provision
- Leaders are passionate about the school and the area they serve. They work hard to deliver positive outcomes for pupils.
The report also provides valuable feedback on how we can further improve. It was reassuring to see that areas for improvement that Ofsted highlighted were already identified in our own School Development Plan, with many of them being acted on already.
In addition to our new Ofsted judgment, we have celebrated record GCSE, A Level & BTECs results this summer which clearly establishes Gosforth Academy as one of the region’s leading schools.
I would like to reiterate my thanks to the whole school community, including students, staff and our parents/carers for your continued support.
Preit Chahal, Principal.
