Rising to Success (Y11)
Rising to Success is a revision preparation programme leading up to the Year 11 January Mock Exams.
The programme consist of a 4 week revision programme, where each subject offers after school revision classes to prepare students for their Mock Exams. These sessions can be based on Subject content, Exam technique and/or study skills. Revision sessions will usually start in the middle of November and run until the end of Term.
Revision sessions are open to all students to attend and all students are encouraged to attend as many revision sessions as possible. There will also be a number of students that will be required to attend revision on a compulsory basis (these students will be notified in advance).
Students will receive a ‘Rising to Success’ Booklet which includes a revision session timetable, Subject tips and revision ideas, a place for students to create a meaningful revision timetable and activities for them to complete during Praise lessons.
The programme ends with students sitting their Mock exams in January straight after the Christmas Holidays with results being issued via an assembly at the end of January/beginning of February.
Flying Start to Success (Y10)
Flying Start to Success is a revision preparation programme to support students in the run up to their June Mock Exams.
The 4 week programme focuses on revision skills, where students trial various techniques of independent study including time management and making effective revision resources. The Flying Start to Success booklet guides students through the process and beyond. Students dedicate time in Praise preparing resources with the support of their form tutor.
Subject areas provide students with useful hints and tips relating to recommended revision guides, topics and theory to focus on as well as advice for the examination itself. Examinations are held over a two week period in which students have the full exam experience with an exam timetable to follow, examination venues and exam invigilators.
The programme concludes with students collecting their results as part of a results assembly, students are encouraged to share their successes and reflect on any adjustments they would make before starting the Rising to Success programme.
Easter School
Throughout the Easter holidays a comprehensive programme of revision classes will take place for both Y11 students and Y13 students. Full morning or afternoon sessions will take place within subject areas with targeted intervention for selected students. Subject specialists plan and deliver specific resources to aid understanding of a certain topics or support examination revision in a more holistic way.
