Enrichment

At Gosforth Academy we aim to have a strong enrichment programme pervasive throughout school life. We want students to enjoy everything that we have to offer at Gosforth Academy, both in class and beyond. We believe our high-quality lessons mixed with our broad and numerous activities, interest groups, leadership and volunteering opportunities develop students’ academic, social and personal skills to provide a springboard for their future; whatever that may be.

Extra-Curricular Activities-7up

Gosforth Academy has a thriving extra-curricular programme. There is a huge variety of activities taking place ranging from our ever-successful sporting teams run by the fantastic PE department, the hive of activity that is the after-school art club, strategy and role playing games like Magic The Gathering as well as the musical brilliance of the school choirs, Brass Group and Fusion Band. Many students also use the extra-curricular time to look at the impact they can have on school life. Alongside all this, the school is here to support you academically with homework club and extended library opening hours. The extra-curricular programme is a wonderful opportunity to apply the virtues celebrated in our Character Education vision.

Enterprise and Activity Week –Yellow week

Enterprise and Activity Week is the culmination of the school year at Gosforth Academy. It is a week where staff and students alike focus on enrichment.

We have an array of activities taking place at different locations. Whether students want to become a film critic, develop their football skills, win the Great Gosforth Bake-Off, be a musical star, learn poker from the sharpest minds in the business then that can all be achieved right here on the school site. Those venturing further afield have the choice of surfing at Tynemouth, honing golf skills at Parklands, visiting the wonderful museums and galleries of Newcastle/Gateshead with the art department, developing fitness at Eldon Leisure, testing their outdoor skills in the Lake District and contributing to the local area with volunteering opportunities alongside our school partners.

Finally, this week represents an opportunity to take an overseas trip which develops students’ independence skills as well as seeing what other cultures have to offer. In recent years the school has run Yellow Week trips to: Berlin, Normandy, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Beijing.
