Careers and work experience at gosforth academy sixth form

Careers and Work Experience

At the heart of our careers and work experience programme is the aim that all our students should be in a position when they leave Gosforth Academy to create their own future.

Whether  the student’s next step beyond school is going on to higher or further education, an apprenticeship or straight to work, our programme enables students to explore and envisage their future careers and build on their skills, qualifications and understanding of what's needed to get there.

Careers education is delivered in a variety of ways: through lessons, tutorials, assemblies, one-to-one interviews, work experience, and events which take place both inside and outside school. In the documents available to download in this section we have shared some useful links and set out which activities take place throughout the year for each year group. We encourage our students to engage with the programme to explore and discover their interests. Such super-curricular activities also serve to further boost their success within UCAS, CVs or Apprenticeship applications.

We measure the impact of these activities in a variety of ways, for example analysing destination data and seeking feedback from students, staff and other participants involved in the programme, such as employers.

If you would like to offer feedback or have any further comments on our Careers Programme please email our Progression Manager (job share)
