Gosforth Academy students and their families opened up their homes to 13 German exchange students from our partner school, the Elisabeth-vonThadden Schule, in Heidelberg.
In a fun-filled week with a trip to Dunstanburgh Castle, shared classes and a taskmaster-style party, our students pushed themselves out of their comfort zones, made new friends while overcoming language barriers, and developed their empathy and cultural understanding.
The exchange, which was financially supported by the UK-German Connection, was a great way to bring students from both countries together to explore our shared heritage from castles and Roman ruins to language and foods. Fish and chips was a big hit! We are looking forward to our return visit in July 2024.
