Principal Update - 11th June 2021

Dear Parents/Carers,

I hope you have been able to enjoy the warmer weather we’ve had recently.

The start of the new academic year has gone superbly well. The new Year 11 now come in slightly earlier in the morning, have an extra lesson on Wednesday Period 7 and are gearing up for mock exams next week. I have also heard great reports from teachers regarding how well the new Year 10 have settled into their Key Stage 4 courses and it’s really nice to see them going to parts of the school which they probably didn’t even know existed! Our new Year 13 have been busy taking mock exams this week which we hope have gone well and when they return the UCAS process will begin.

In my last update we had a rise in cases particularly within the Sixth Form. There were a number of cases where this was clearly due to social activity out of school but ultimately it would be naive to think there is no transmission in schools either. I attended a meeting on Monday with the Local Authority and Public Health to discuss the recent cases. They were very reassured by our systems of control and risk assessments and we have made some other changes that we think will help. We have produced a joint letter to make parents fully aware of how they can support too. Please read this and act on the advice we are giving.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Preit Chahal
