The MFL department was pleased to welcome back its German exchange which was up and running again in the last week before half-term after a two-year Covid hiatus.
On Friday, the 14th of October, 14 German exchange students arrived in Newcastle to stay with 14 Gosforth Academy students until Friday, 21st October.
Our German guests spent the weekend in their host families before we went on joint "getting-to-know-each-other-trip" (Kennenlernausflug) to Dunstanburgh Castle on Monday. On Tuesday and Wednesday, the German students went on trips to Beamish, Durham and York. On Thursday and Friday, they followed their exchange partners around Gosforth Academy to learn a bit more about what life is like at a British school.
In July, we will take our Gosforth Academy hosts to Heidelberg to find out more about how people live in Germany and what German schools are all about. We are already looking forward to the return trip!
