Year 12 students complete DoE Silver Award

72 Gosforth Academy Year 12 students participated in the Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award this year. We ran three practice expeditions from a campsite along Hadrian's Wall and three assessed expeditions in Buttermere and the Borrowdale Valley in the Lake District National Park. In addition, students also had to learn a skill, participate in a physical activity, and volunteer for at least six months. All students completed their expeditions this year despite some wild weather extremes, blisters, minor injuries, and illnesses.

Many thanks to all of the staff who volunteered their time to give students opportunities like this. Thanks also to John and Caroline of Adventure Training North East, who organised and assessed our expeditions.
