MFL Students Explore Newcastle University

On December 6th, the MFL department took fifteen of our A-level students to Newcastle University to explore opportunities of continued language learning at university and beyond.

The visit started with a talk by current students on how languages are studied at university, opportunities to spend time abroad and to use transferable skills acquired through language learning to open up a vast array of career paths. It continued with a Japanese taster session and ended with a campus tour led by Student Language Ambassadors from Newcastle University.

The visit gave our students a great insight into how they will be able to use their hard-earned skills beyond school.

Many thanks to the Newcastle University Language Resource Centre for hosting us and to their students Gerda, Ben and Harry for taking the time to share their experiences with us. We return to the classroom with lots of inspiration, motivation and aspiration!
