Gosforth Academy held a Service Of Remembrance on November 7th, attended by staff, parents, military service personnel, volunteer cadets, and the wider members of our community.
Deputy Principal, Mr Snowdon said, 'Remembrance events are an important time for students to reflect on the sacrifices made for our freedom and peace. It was encouraging to see so many students from the RAF Air Cadets in attendance at the community service'.
Local dignitaries in attendance included the Newcastle upon Tyne Sheriff, Henry Gallagher who was grateful for the invite and thanked the school. The Rev Canon Andrew Shipton of All Saints' Church, Gosforth, whose children previously attended Gosforth Academy said, 'I thought the service was powerful, the musicians truly talented, and the speakers committed and sincere, with much thought and detailed work clearly going into the service'. All contributions were donated to the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.
